![]() I create art to make the world better. My illustrations, often completed for non-profit groups, bridge the gap between environmental science and art to deliver important messages to the general public. My work is characterized by vibrant colors and dynamic vertical compositions. Often, I use irony or a sense of humor to convey an otherwise depressing idea. Some of my work is downright ridiculous. While most of my illustrations require watercolor, pen and ink, or a computer, I live for the rich, buttery texture of acrylic paint. My training as a scientific illustrator taught me to pay close attention to detail while my taste as an artist is forever pushing me to paint larger and use brighter colors. As I approach the metaphorical fulcrum between these two parts of myself, my work is continuing to evolve. My influences and artistic heroes include Larry Duke, Ron Barett, Ernst Haeckel, Ray Troll, and Russell Brutsche, to name a few.
